Navy Chaplain Denies Pearl Harbor Phrase Origin

In New York on October 31, Chaplain William Maguire and Bishop John F. O’Hara stated that Maguire did not say the line Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition and did not man a gun at Pearl Harbor. They stressed chaplains cannot engage in combat and urged clarifying the truth amid song-phrase attribution. The report notes Maguire’s possible use of God help us and mentions Blackpool forming 1,000 war savings groups.
