Ex-NYPD man foiled in Nassau hijack attempt

An ex police officer James Bennett 39 of Comack New York who claimed explosives tried to hijack an Eastern Airlines jet from Miami to LaGuardia in Nassau. He ordered landing and held three hostages and $500000. He was overpowered by pilot John O Neill and subdued along with Customs and Nassau police. He was taken to a Nassau jail as officials sort jurisdiction.
