A Described as about 25 years old man described by witnesses as wearing dark clothing was involved in an incident. Authorities are investigating details and seeking information from the public.
An armed bandit robbed the Bank of Summerfield in Greensboro taking between 1500 and 2000 dollars while two officials pursued him. a separate fatal crash near Greensboro killed the two year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Holder when a Ford hit a hole in the road.
Memorial Day honored by Civil War Spanish American and World War veterans led by the Andrew Jackson American Legion post and Bellicourt VFW post. A 2:30 parade from South Main School to Wesley Memorial Church preceded a memorial service conducted by Dr. J. T. Mann. The event drew about 1000 attendees.
May 29 report states Wright Rouse, Negro, had death sentence for the William Whitely slaying commuted to life after a governor review citing mental deficiency. Mrs. Whitely and Thomas Hayes received life terms for related roles. Rouse confessed to accepting $500 to kill Whitely but said Whitely was already dead when he arrived. Hayes and Mrs. Whitely pleaded or were found guilty of conspiracy and received life terms.
Portland reports that seven firemen were killed and three injured when the Welsh Prince was struck by the freighter Lowan in the Columbia River off Altona Washington. The Welsh Prince sank within twenty minutes.

A party of 125 Greenville South Carolina businessmen will travel by special train June 5 for a five day Carolina Virginia acquaintance tour. They will visit High Point Greensboro Danville and other cities with speeches by local leaders and a breakfast at the Sheraton Hotel. The group will be met by High Point officials and escorted to industrial plants. Local volunteers are asked to provide transportation for the visit.
New York orchestra arrived in High Point and will play for the American Legion dance at the Sheraton tonight at 9 o'clock. The group, praised among top city outfits, performs in venues across New York and travels to the Orpheum theater for matinee and evening shows. Proceeds support Andrew Jackson post veterans and tickets are sold by United Daughters of the Confederacy.
In a sharp night clash along the border between Donagal and Fermanagh near Beleek and a nearby castle, five Irish Republican Army members were killed and several wounded, and one Ulster constable died. The fighting followed Ulster police action in Beleek.
Savannah Georgia May 29 William Bird a black man living near Brentwood Wayne county was shot to death by a mob and his body burned He was accused of killing B W Moody a well to do farmer who lived nearby Bird had also seriously wounded Browning Weaver and shot Carlos Moody in the arm The trouble began when negro workers from Macon came to the Moody place and Bird's wife objected to riding on the front seat She told her husband who complained to elder Moody and a quarrel followed Moody was shot by Bird who fled Bird was captured by neighbors and killed by a mob
