The High Point Building and Loan Association formed in 1901, holding its first meeting October 3 1901 in the old National Bank building. Attendees included J P Redding J Cox A Welch D W Harris E Snow J J Farriss W P Pinkett E D Steele EB A Bencini R C Charlies D A Stanton J D Mann H A Moffitt Clyde B Curlee A J Dodamead Geo A Matton D Arthur Kirkman and A W Coun.
The High Point Perpetual Building and Loan Association traced its 1901 founding and growth to politics and local leaders. Directors and officers shepherded loans and stock series, expanding as High Point grew, with pivotal figures including J. P. Redding and D. A. Stanton shaping its ascent and city development.
