Miss Phyllis Witcher, bride-elect of Bill Sykes, was feted at a misc shower hosted by Mrs. Sara and Mrs. Mary Stewart at 331 Nathan Hunt Dr. Roses and white carnations adorned the home. guests played bridal bingo and received lingerie gifts.
High Point-Thomasville Association of Insurance Women sent several members to the 16th annual North Carolina Association convention at Sedgefield Inn from May 23 to 25. Local attendees include Mrs. Kate B Ragan Miss Marie Jones and others with guests Mr and Mrs Larry Griffin and Robert R Rankin. Miss Mary Branch of Raleigh was elected president for the coming year and the 17th annual convention was announced for May 1959 at Sedgefield.
Invitations have been sent and final plans announced for the marriage of Miss Alda Kay Michael to Ralph Lera Helsabeck. The ceremony is set for June 14 1958 at 7 30 PM in the Chapel of Green Street Baptist Church High Point North Carolina with Dr E W Price officiating. The program includes organ music by Miss Betty Ann Sain and solos by Mr Woods.
Mr and Mrs Clarence B Stainback left this morning by plane for Houston Texas to visit Mrs Stainbacks parents Mr and Mrs E M Renfrow and family. Mr Stainback will return to High Point in two weeks while Mrs Stainback stays in Houston for a month. Cyrus Justice of Greensboro Road is a patient at High Point Memorial Hospital after a heart attack. Mr and Mrs Charles S Gooding and baby returned to N R I Sunday where he is stationed with the U S Navy. They spent the past two weeks with his parents Mr and Mrs N G Gooding of Route 4 High Point.
Miss Elizabeth Prettyman was honored at a Saturday bridge luncheon for 12 guests. Corsage and linen gifts accompanied a buffet luncheon. prizes were given to winners who then presented them to the honoree. She is to wed Sanders Grantham June 7.
The Alpha Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will hold its annual spring dance at the Shrine Club on the Greensboro Road on Saturday evening. Sorority members and escorts meet at 8 p.m. for a social hour. Buck Wuchea’s band will provide the music for the 1 p.m. dance.
