The National Spinning Co. purchased a 40 acre tract in Washington NC for a multi million dollar knitting yarn plant that will employ about 500 workers when fully operational. Construction begins with a first building due next fall and a city bond issue of 1.25 million dollars funded water and sewer facilities for the project.
NAGS HEAD E L Sparrow director of education for Dearborn Motors attends the annual spring meeting of county farm agents from eastern North Carolina. Speakers include D D Brown and R W Shoffner. D S Weaver head of the Extension Service tells the 175 attendees that agriculture must have a plan and readers to carry it out.
A true bill of indictment was returned against Hot Springs Police Chief Paul Cutshall on a murder charge yesterday. A warrant was signed by Mrs. Mary L. Gosnell, sister of Alonzo Norton who was killed in a gunfight with the chief on a Hot Springs street March 24. Norton wounded the chief during an arrest attempt, and a prior coroner's jury did not recommend holding anyone.
About 5,000 workers from three Western Electric plants remained on strike after conciliation talks with the Communications Workers Union were recessed for an indefinite period. Negotiations had run since May 14 with little progress reported at Greensboro Winston-Salem and Burlington plants.
The Marine Corps named the drowned marine found near Atlantic Beach as Picapa W Weiner, 20, of Brooklyn. The death occurred Sunday and the official identification was released today.

Stella S Rhodes told police she rode in a car with Edward Ball the night he was shot near Tryon Cemetery at 2 30 am. Ball, manager of a Tryon theater, later died from a chin wound after being found in an empty theater. Jesse L Rhodes, accountant and political figure, was jailed for Ball's murder and for assaulting Stella Rhodes.

South Korean assemblymen demand withdrawal of the UN ceasefire proposal calling it dishonorable. They press for a meeting with Lt. Gen. Harrison to scrap the plan as Prime Minister Nehru and Britain voice cautious support while the plan hands North Korean prisoners to a five nation neutral panel for disposition.
Sen Taft in Cincinnati urged abandoning United Nations in the East if truce talks fail while President Eisenhower stressed UN principles in Korea and the no forcible repatriation policy. White House declined to comment on the divergence as Taft lay in a Cincinnati hospital during the lire of the dispute.

A Parkside home erupted in relief after a 2.5 foot land moccasin hid above the water line in a commode. The husband fled for help while the wife grabbed boiling water and scalded the snake, forcing it from the basin as neighbors aided. The snake was tossed out the window and the men finished the job.
Dr Raymond G Cross of Dublin told the World Congress on Fertility and Sterility that garlic and onions in good quantities can aid male fertility. He cited diet clothing and continence as influences and advised avoiding hot baths and tight clothes. He suggested supplements including sterile mendine bananas celery parsley honey cheese marmite molasses treacle and Guinness stout. He urged regular rest and periods of reproductive abstinence roughly every 10 days to six weeks, noting 15 months as ideal though impractical.
