Britain Seeks ICJ Ruling in Iran Oil Dispute

London reports Britain filed a formal appeal with the International Court of Justice in The Hague asking the court to deem Iran a violator of international law if it refuses arbitration. The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company seeks arbitration and demands Iran honor the 1923 concession and provide full satisfaction and indemnity for acts against the company.

Allies Seek To Trap Reds In Korean Front

Allied forces drive across the frontier above Chunchon to six miles from Hivachon and push remnants of Chinese forces toward the Hyon area. U S and French troops seize the Hongchon Inje road, link with a bridgehead on the Choeyang River, and press toward Inje as heavy rain limits air support. About 10,000 Chinese remnants retreat northwest while another group is isolated on the Seoul Kumbhwa highway. The heaviest fighting centers on the Hongchon Inje corridor as infantry closes gaps behind advancing armored columns.

Violation Told By Gen Collins on Border Policy

Confederates To Meet For Last Time In Norfolk Reunion

Berg Leads Zaharias In Weathervane Golf Showdown

Mexican Radios Put Under Censor

Mexico imposed full censorship on all radio broadcasts to protect private interests. The Ministry of Communications said one or two censors would be assigned to every station, and no program may air without prior approval. Censorship targets offensive material including religion and politics, with ads and spots also covered. Some censors are already at work as executives protest curbs on press and radio freedom.

Gastonia Nine Caps Another State Crown

Gastonia Green Wave won the state Class AAA baseball title in 10 innings, beating Wilmington 6-5 to complete a 2-0 series sweep. Cecil Herth homered in the 10th to briefly put Wilmington ahead, but Gastonia rallied with walks and key hits capped by Jim Mincey's outfield single scoring the decisive runs. The victory follows an earlier 6-5 win in the first game.
