Voting in High Point was orderly and fairly heavy with early estimates around 3,300 ballots. The gubernatorial race drew attention as Cherry or Lind could win here while Hoey and Morrison were seen as closely matched for U.S. Senate. Local races showed Ballentine favored for lieutenant governor and Crissman expected to win the house seat amid scattered support for Cave ness Younce Moseley and McAnally. County contests ran strong with Treasurer Johnson facing moderate opposition and W T Loving drawing Republican focus on a justice of the peace race.
