Miss Edith Frances Colgate daughter of Mr and Mrs Lathrop Colgate of Filston Meadows Bedford New York married Charles Baker Salsbury son of Mr and Mrs John M Sherrod Salsbury of this city. The ceremony was at Saint Matthews church Bedford with Rev Arthur Ketchum officiating. After a short motor trip the couple will live in New York City.
Local interest wedding of Miss Pat Miller daughter of Mrs C B Miller of Sedgefield to Thomas A Ring son of Mr and Mrs C A Ring will be held Saturday evening at six o’clock at the Methodist church in Elkin D C Miss Miller’s sister Mrs John Wright will be maid of honor and Mr A Ring Jr will be best man Music will be provided by Miss Mamie Blackburn Miss Josephine Paul and Mrs Eugene Click A series of social events plans weeks long including luncheons dinners and a buffet supper follow the ceremony
Mr and Mrs J Beaver announce the birth of a son Jun ius Leroy on May 22 at 619 Carter street. Mr and Mrs Lloyd McClure announce the birth of a son Lloyd Littleton Jr on May 22 at their Jamestown home. Mrs McClure is formerly Miss Mary Crickmore. The High Point chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy will meet Monday at 3 30 with Mrs C C Robbins as hostess. Associate hostesses are Mrs C B Mattocks and Mrs Dora Richardson. Transportation calls go to Mrs C H Bass. Various society luncheons and neat gatherings follow with Miss Pat Miller to be honored Monday. Relatives visit Rev and Mrs R I Farmer in Colonial Drive with Ohio relatives. Laura Wesson U D C meets at Mrs George Hutchens residence. D A R procession planned for veterans memorial service at Chamber of Commerce. Miss Gracie Lanier weds Robert W Sutton in Asheboro. The Burbank Garden Club luncheon is set for May 30 at Mrs C C Garrett’s Rockford road home with North Carolina Garden Club head Mrs Wesley Taylor as guest.
Impressive graduation services for Burrus Memorial Hospital student nurses were at Emmanuel Lutheran church with Dr. C R Hill delivering the principal address. Rev H Norwood Bowne gave the invocation, violin solo by Robert Fearing and a vocal Serenade by Miss Anne Robbins highlighted the program.
A large crowd attended Emerywood Country Club’s dinner dance last evening from eight to twelve at the club house. Archie Davis and his UNC orchestra provided music through dinner and the evening as the club plans more events. Welch Rises chaired a four member committee organizing the popular affair. Mrs. Thomas Elder hosted a children’s birthday party at 1707 East Green Street for Thomas Jr. with games and ice cream.
