Red China Proposes 14 Nation Laos Conference

Red China proposed a 14 nation conference on Laos and accused the United States of planning to send troops to Thailand to enter Laos. CAPE KENNEDY Fla AP The unmanned model of the Apollo moonship's first orbit attempt was postponed to Thursday due to a frozen nitrogen valve in ground support gear. After a near three hour struggle with the issue, NASA called off the launch two days to replace the faulty valve and recheck the system.

Cambridge clash leaves guardsman shot in flareup

In Cambridge Maryland a National Guardsman was shot and three others injured as integrationists clashed with troops using bayonets and tear gas. Bullets bricks and bottles flew as curfew was set by Brig Gen George Gelston and troops cleared the Negro district on Race I Street. Several demonstrators were reportedly hurt but none of the injuries proved serious.
