Bill protects private club beer license in North Carolina

The North Carolina House approved a measure to shield private clubs and tavern operators from losing beer licenses when liquor is consumed on premises under specific conditions. It also bans minors from buying beer or wine and criminalizes aiding minors in such purchases. The bill targets cases where liquor is not publicly displayed, is legal, tax paid, and consumption does not promote disorder. A separate bill bars threatening or vulgar language in anonymous calls. The chamber also formed a committee to plan the annual love feast, signaling nearing adjournment.
