Seepage From Gas Tank Blamed For Refined Oil Well
In High Point the mystery of a so called refined oil well ends as investigators report gasoline seepage from a roadster tank polluted the abandoned well. N J Sheldon of 1205 South Main Street noticed strong gasoline odor when opening the well for a summer project. About 75 gallons were drawn from the well while a nearby filling station had lost roughly 300 gallons from a tank leak discovered earlier. The seepage appears to have entered a vein and filled the well, frustrating Sheldon’s hopes.
