Plan to Use Mails for Church Work
The Episcopal church education conference in Chicago May 30 to June 1 will discuss using the federal mail service to reach 25 million unaffiliated rural and mountain residents with Bible instruction. Sleeping sickness may be permanent in some cases
Cultures and specimens of the bacterial organism linked to sleeping sickness were presented by Dr. K C Rose of the Mayo Clinic to the nervous diseases section at the American Medical Association meeting in St. Louis. Dr. William House of Portland reported that about half of 145 cases showed no permanent effect, while the remaining 60 to 9 percent showed mental disturbances, fatigue, weakness, tremors, or other symptoms suggesting potential lasting harm.
