British Ship Sunk By Spanish Rebels
MADRID May 25. The 261 ton British freighter Thorpehall was sunk off Valencia harbor by insurgent air raiders. Two of four bombs hit the ship as it lay about a mile from the harbor. One officer and one seaman were wounded. the rest of the crew were rescued. The ship, owned by Liff Shipping Co Ltd of London, had previously clashed with insurgents and was to sail to Amsterdam in July 1938 on charges of carrying money and jewels. It later violated the Biscay blockade and carried supplies to Gijon.
