South declares with finesse to beat four spades
In a bridge column, South navigates a tricky four spades contract after West leads hearts. The declarer plays a careful sequence, discarding and ruffing to set up hearts and diamonds, avoiding risk if East had the diamond king, and secures the hand despite a strong West heart lead. Also noted is malaria prevention among American troops overseas and a remark on monogram evolution from a single letter to interwoven designs.
