Ex pressway plans may cut widenings in historic James town area
Moss notes that the new expressway could reduce the extent of widening anticipated earlier. Readable historic buildings in the proposal include Mendenhall Store, Madi son Lindsay Medical School at Scientific Ave and Jamestown Main, Dr Shubal Coffin Medical School, the Richard Mendenhall Plantation, Potter’s Log House, Coffin and Ragsdale houses, and the Mark Iddings House in Waterman’s North Carolina Architecture book now owned by Guilford County. The interior retains original panelling and hardware though much exterior has been altered.
