Walter S. Ward son of Waard Baking's head in New Rochelle surrendered to Sheriff Werner confessing he shot and killed Clarence Peters a former Navy man near Kensico reservoir after being lured to a lonely spot on Port Chester road. Ward said he was blackmailed and driven to the scene, eight shots fired and Peters killed. Ward released on $10,000 bail. Peters identified as son of Mr and Mrs Eldridge Peters of Haverhill Mass.

A 13 year old, Harry McDaniel, died after injuries from a fall on a pipe projecting from the ground. He fell Friday and died Saturday at a local hospital. Funeral services were held at Hanes funeral chapel and burial followed in Green Hill cemetery.

Brest May 2 The British vice counsel said 102 on board the British steamship Egypt sunk off Ushant Saturday night are missing including 28 passengers and 204 crew saved. Negro Presbyterians Raised Ample Funds in South
May 22 Des Moines reports that colored Presbyterian churches in the south raised 382500 for their own support and church benevolences. Dr J S Fisher, president of the Presbyterian board of missions for Freeman, will report that despite reduced contributions and a 182063 drop in income for 1921 22 compared with 1920 21, the 147 schools and 448 churches under the board remained in fine condition with over 18000 pupils and 27000 communicants. The board now assists twenty of the sixty three colored Presbyterian churches of the north.
