Stanford Scientists Outline Polio Immunity Theory
Stanford researchers Dr. E. W. Schultz and Dr. L. P. Gebhardt propose that natural immunity to infantile paralysis may form through exposure to low strength virus types. In monkey experiments they observed high brain virus concentration without nerve cell loss, with potential movement to the spinal column causing damage.

Variable virus strains linked to paralysis in animals study
Researchers traced how dilution levels of a virus correlate with nerve damage in the spinal cord. They propose some brain and spinal tissue are more vulnerable, and immunity may stem from exposure to low power virus strains. They note polio virus remains elusive and that low power forms could act like a vaccine.
