Cicero Brown a civil engineer and Grady H Burks a blacksmith arrive safely in France from Company service. Son of M L Burke Burke writes that both soldiers enjoy beautiful France and army life is first rate.
Victor Brown, a renowned painter, fell from a scaffold at J. Carl Hill's Hamilton street home around 3 PM yesterday. He suffered a broken arm and possible back injuries and was taken to High Point hospital. Doctors described his condition as very favorable but could not yet determine the full extent of his injuries.
Washington reports Major General Crowder says about three quarters of a million men will be obtained for the army by the June 5 registration of youths who turned 21 since June 5 last. Estimated total registrations may reach a million with at least a quarter excused on various grounds.
Texarkana Ark May 21 Troop train No 551 northbound wrecked near Garlandty Ark the engine and four coaches overturned. The engineer and firemen were killed and 16 soldiers injured in the crash.
