The Trout No One Catches By Jim Dean
A seasoned angler recalls a near impossible trout pool where five browns haunt a shaded eddy. He overlays failed attempts, dangerous wading, tangled rhododendron, and a thumb injury as night falls, concluding that fishing is about more than catching and ends with a contemplative wrap.

New Bill Aims to Strengthen Wildlife Law Enforcement
A proposed Senate Bill 463 would replace disparate state and local rules with a single state wildlife code. It would grant the Wildlife Commission authority to enforce the new laws and impose harsher penalties, including restitution for game destroyed, to curb poaching and reduce cross county confusion. The note also mentions peak May bream fishing and confirms the Southern Bass Anglers Inc event in Gaston.
