Second heart patient dies after partial implant at Methodist
Walter L. McCans aged 61 died in Houston at 8 am after a partial artificial heart implant at Methodist Hospital. Doctors cited a persistent hemorrhagic diathesis causing pulmonary insufficiency as the probable cause, following two return surgeries to remove fluids from the lungs. McCans, a retired Navy man from Woodinville Washington, had shown temporary heart improvement before death.
