Congressmen forecast House kill of Senate wage freeze
Rep. Jesse P. Wolcott said the House will kill the Senate approved wage price rent freeze authority as an empty gesture now tied to war or specific congressional action. The Senate passed the measure 45 to 41, with a Byrd amendment limiting use, while Bricker failed to strip the freeze entirely. Wolcott, chair of the House Banking Committee, warned it could hinder business and he doubted House action.
