High Point WHBM Radio Debuts From Sheraton Hotel
Equipment for WHBM High Point’s first radio station arrives and is installed in the Sheraton ballroom. The 8 PM Saturday broadcast will feature local talent, with a test tonight on wavelength 203.09 meters. Mayor Davis will officially open the station, followed by the H P College Symphony Orchestra and a performance of The Rose Maiden.

Furniture Industry Shifts South Says Murrill
Hugh A. Murrill Jr. told Winston-Salem furniture dealers that by 1930s a southern center will dominate production as northern plants relocate for cheaper costs and access to resources. He cited North Carolina leading in bedroom furniture with 107 factories and over 60 million dollars annual output, and noted southern shipments rose while rail lines carried large carloads. He announced Southern Furniture Institute clinics in High Point and planned talks across southern cities on the high cost of lost sales.
