Forecasts for North Carolina call for sun today with mountains turning partly cloudy and scattered late day showers and thundershowers. Highs mid 80s to low 90s. Partly cloudy tonight with mild lows. Thursday brings more afternoon and evening showers in the mountains and 80s to 90s. South Carolina remains sunny and warm with a chance of thundershowers Thursday. Highs reach 80s to around 90, lows near 60s.
Extended outlook suggests a mild Friday with a cooler weekend. Showers possible in the east Friday and mountains Sunday. Temperatures mainly in the 80s Friday, easing to the 70s and 60s by weekend. Lows range from 50s to 60s, dropping to upper 40s in the mountains.
Rep Wilbur D Mills says voluntary restraints on Japanese textiles deserve a fair trial but Congress may need statutory controls. He defended a voluntary deal with textile leaders and warns quotas for one product alone are hard to legislate. Mills notes Nixon tensions over imports and the Senate fate of the House bill.
