Budget deficit projections and relief bill debate

The administration seeks a large deficit under the next year’s estimates, with about 4.1 billion dollars shortfall expected though actual outlays often fall short of appropriations. A 1 billion public works allocation may not be spent until the following year while a possible 1.5 billion RF C program is not in estimates. Senate subcommittee wrapped hearings on the 3 billion relief and public works bill as debate looms. Senator Bridges urged buying back delinquent taxes to spur recovery, proposing 750 million dollars for that purpose, while Byrd and others seek to trim pump priming features and focus on relief. President of the US Chamber of Commerce, George H Davis, argued that spending adequate relief is not pump priming but necessary to replace reduced private outlays.
