Petty Picks Pole In Charlotte Qualifying
Petty led a tight qualifying session at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a 1966 Plymouth setting the top time, edging David Pearson in a 1966 Dodge and Buddy Baker in a Ray Fox Dodge. The field includes Jim Paschal and Earl Balmer among others, as cars and teams shuffle under stock car racing changes. Sixty four cars entered the $112,000 event with starting order to be finalized.
