Stock market edges down as steel shares slip
The Dow fell 3.82 to 928.68 amid light pressure on steel issues. U.S. Steel slipped 1 percent to 43, Bethlehem Steel fell 1 to 31½, and Armco dropped fractionally to 28. The downturn followed Merrill Lynch’s report lowering near term earnings, though optimism remained for 1978 with Bethlehem upgraded to buy and others maintained at buy.
