Atomic Power For U.S. Homes Seen
Former atomic power chief Dr. Lawrence Hafstad says American homes could use electricity from atomic plants within three to four years. He notes four or five U S utility companies are building plants that will yield 700 000 kilowatts, enough for a city of 700 000 people, as part of a broader peaceful use program with experts including Ernest Lawrence and John Jay Hopkins.

Point System For Violators Is Killed
The North Carolina House killed a bill to create a motor vehicle violator point system after Rep. Phil Whitley argued it would force the Motor Vehicles Department to maintain a personal history file on nearly every motorist. The measure would assign points for each traffic conviction and suspend licenses after ten points in a year. It also notes lawmakers considered a constitutional amendment to raise legislative pay and allowances, while other bills included audits of county officers and shifting highway speed limits.b
