Harris Verdict Set For Monday

A guilty plea of nolo contendere to carrying a concealed weapon by John Harris in municipal court leads to a verdict scheduled for next Monday afternoon after a rehearing of evidence on the shooting of Reuben Ware at his Hilltop Avenue home in March. Judge Teague postponed ruling to ensure fair consideration following Judge Stack’s strong criticism of the prior acquittal in a murder case. Defense and prosecution debated the impact of that remark as character witnesses testified to Harris’s good reputation.
