Three Million Plus Left In Treasury At Raleigh
Raleigh, May 14 AP A cash balance of 3 333 137 60 in the general fund of the state as of April 30 1927 was reported by the state auditor and treasurer. The budget commission now predicts a surplus at the end of the biennium of about 1 642 000, larger than earlier estimates. Carryover surplus could reach 1 705 000 to meet 1927 29 appropriations. Licenses taxes due June 1 with penalties after August 15. June collections could raise the balance. In June disbursements include 1 280 000 for interest and retirement of bonds and 590 for Confederate pensions.
