The national action committee of the Socialist party asserts the new La Follette led National Progressives of America Inc moves toward fascism. Ramseur Hosiery Mills of Asheboro received a state charter to manufacture buy and sell textile products with Johnson Craven Underwood and McCrary subscribing part of the capital.

North Carolina Democrats named 3 619 delegates at county conventions to go to the state convention in Raleigh on May 19. Loyal Planes Lead Attack in Spain Front

A 650 plane government air assault on the eastern Spanish front near Cantavieja and Barcelona challenged the insurgent force in Valencia. WPA Allots $75 000 For Work To Be Started Here This Month

WPA projects totaling about 75 000 dollars are to begin in High Point and surrounding areas between now and May 25. Two allotments have been approved in Raleigh for High Point college athletic field development and clerical work in the city. Additional funds, including a 6 933 dollar allotment to resume a suspended clerical project, are authorized for field work, gymnasium construction, and painting of school buildings. A separate Rockaway River note found by a boy near Morristown raises questions about a missing child, Peter Levine, as authorities compare handwriting with a similar disappearance case in New Rochelle.

Mysterious Shooting Claims 16YearOld Girl in Rocky Mount

In Rocky Mount on May 15 a 16 year old girl Ethel Davis died en route to hospital after a shooting at her aunt’s home.
