Expanded Senate Probe Proposed by Williams

Sen John J Williams offered a resolution to bring senators within the Baker investigation and broaden inquiry to campaign funds and related matters The measure would extend the Rules Committee inquiry to Sept 1 and was sparked by a stormy hearing where Sen Case urged questioning senators about Baker ties Baker resigned as the Senate Democratic secretary after building a multi million dollar fortune while on a 1960s pay.

Moore expands education plan in campaign speech

The 56 year old former superior court judge presented five additions to his education program at a news conference. He urged broadening curricula for average students, continued support for gifted programs, eliminating classroom hunger, freeing teachers from clerical tasks, and studying future needs of public schools. He stressed public schools must serve all 11 million children, about 75 percent average in ability, and called for ongoing dedication to education by governors and the Democratic party.

Guerrilla exiles led by Manuel Artime say they launched a large scale commando attack near a sugar mill at Puerto Pilan on the eastern coast of Oriente in Cuba. The strike targets Castro's regime as exiles vow to continue harassment of the economy and push for his overthrow.

Air Force Flags Potentially Crashed Obsolete Planes

Washington AP Air Force responding to a congressional inquiry said that 72 T28 planes in operation in South Vietnam may have crashed due to possible structural failure.
