Esso Plus to replace premium in new Gulf style
Humble Oil & Refining Co plans to market a new Esso Plus grade between regular and premium, replacing Golden and discontinuing the super grade. The new fuel aims at cars not needing top premium performance and will debut in the Eastern Seaboard within weeks.

President Kennedy urged the United Auto Workers to restrain wage demands to protect prices. He warned that unjustified wage or profit demands forcing price increases hurt national interests. The week saw unemployment fall 400,000 and 700,000 more employed in April, plus a merger approval between New York Central and Pennsylvania railways. U.S. Steel and Republic Steel urged price hikes to modernize and stay competitive.
