Stevens Told To Get Names In McCarthy Hearing
On the thirteenth day of testimony Senator Dirksen urged limiting public remarks to Stevens and McCarthy while allowing closed hearings for other witnesses. McCarthy argued the Peress case touched his core charges about Army pressure and Schine. Mundt indicated support for the Army stance as Democrats opposed, making Dirksen’s plan unlikely to pass.
