Indo-Chinese Leaders Split Over Viet Nam Chief Role
Indo-Chinese nationalists favor Ho Chi Minh over Bao Dai as Viet Nam’s top leader, citing Ho’s independence drive while Bao Dai seeks a freer hand from France. Bao Dai warns against Chinese Communist intervention, sees elections and a national assembly as steps toward stability, and notes Vietminh ties to Moscow. The U.S. backs France and Viet Nam with aid, while officials discuss reconstruction and governance.
