Two Bombers Collide and One Airman Dies
SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. AP One airman was killed and five others escaped injury when two RB66 bombers collided during formation practice at 11,500 feet. Eyewitnesses said a wing struck the underside of another aircraft as three planes flew in formation. Two crewmen ejected before the plane crashed and burned, while Capt. R. E. Woodworth and J. F. Young parachuted to safety. the third plane with three crew members landed damaged but intact.

Nile boat disaster toll nears 150 at Cairo picnic
Divers and navy frogmen recovered 40 more bodies from the sunken Dan dara near Cairo, raising the death toll to about 150 with 95 still missing. Emory A. Vaughan a 32 year old American pilot detained since March 27 by East Germany was released at Helmstedt West Germany in the custody of the American Red Cross. Vaughan from Portsmouth Virginia was escorted by Robert Storey Wilson who arranged the release through East German Red Cross. Vaughan declined to comment and said he had nothing to say as he crossed into West Germany.
