Committee To Vote On Navy Training Bill Today
Washington May 9 The House Naval Affairs Committee plans to vote on a 49 million dollar annual naval office training bill. Chairman Carl Vinson expects approval based on a Navy need for 40 000 line officers in peacetime. The panel also will consider expanding the Naval Academy at Annapolis, a proposal the Navy says requires seizing the 32 acre campus of St John’s College, a historic site. The expansion dispute dominates consideration of the training measure.

Naval Vessels May Be Used To Provide Power
Richmond Va May 9 Navy vessels may provide supplemental power for Hampton Roads communities discussed at a conference between the state corporation commission and power officials. The plan could affect rationing rules as officials extend curbs on nonessential use. The commission administers a 24 hour weekly cap for most consumers and may limit newspaper and radio operations further as shortages persist.
