Judge Signs Judgment On Distributing Estate

Salisbury May 9 Judge Wilson Warlick signed a judgment approving plans to divide the late Smith Reynolds estate with 5 000 000 to be split among charity and the infant Anne Cannon Reynolds and the Reynolds heir. The Cabarrus Bank opposed the plan and sought to force Mrs Annie L Cannon to join the fight for a larger share for Anne Cannon Reynolds Jr. The judge denied the bank petition saying the infant’s best interests require the proposed distribution. Under the plan the child and her mother receive 500 000 each. the child would gain 1 500 000 more, Reynolds posthumous son would get 2 000 000 and Reynolds former torch singer Libby Holman would receive about 500 000. The remainder funds establish a charitable foundation. The bank protested that the judge should not join the issues and limit his action to the petition.
