Congress Eyes Water Projects
Congress moves to fund 17 of 18 water projects Carter seeks to drop for fiscal 1978. House subcommittee favors maintaining most projects, with full committee action set for May 25 and a floor vote on June 10. Environmentalists expect Senate action to be more favorable to deletions. The Grove Reservoir in Kansas is the only project the subcommittee would not back.
