Virginia Youth Dies After 378 Hours On Life Support
Walter L. Boothe, an 18 year old Botetourt County farm boy, died at Roanoke Hospital at 6 A.M. after 15 and a half days on artificial respiration following lung collapse during vertebrae surgery. His ordeal began with a May 1926 automobile accident and included paralysis and a long hospital stay before the operation. He is said to have set a record for living on life support, surpassing prior figures.
