City Hall funds fall short for new High Point building
City records show High Point will receive 1 million dollars from the City County Building sale leaving a large shortfall for a new city hall. Councilman Paul Clapp says plans must be scaled down and more money found. The county will pay the city 1 million in three installments, totaling 2.35 million with 1.35 million from 1968 revenue bonds. A four million dollar cost is projected requiring long term bonds or other funding.
