Notable High Point matriarch built business and family legacy
The bible of Mrs. Wood recounts a life from marriage in 1899 to Mt. Ulla to entrepreneurial success in High Point. She started by turning discarded millinery into fashionable hats, later built a thriving insurance career, funded her children's education, and helped grow the George T. Wood Rug Co. into a regional and then world renowned firm while supporting church and civic service.
