Live Poultry of State Sold as Season Bulk Prices Rise
North Carolina farmers with the state department of agriculture marketed over 4,000,000 pounds of live poultry in three seasons. The season totals rose from 1,000,000 to 2,000,000 pounds, and this season stands around 1,250,000 pounds. Eggs are marketed cooperatively, with a drive to produce registered poultry and hatch baby chicks to meet state demand, plus accreditation for flocks and hatcheries. Strawberries shipments remain strong with good prices.

Carolinas Dewberry and Potato Shipments Rise Noted

Mt Mitchell Receives Spring Forest Planting And Tower
Raleigh May 4 Mt Mitchell has received its spring dressing with about 1700 forest seedlings planted under F H Claridge assistant forester state forest service. The effort repairs the bald areas from a 10 year old fire and continues a program begun in 1923 with roughly 10000 seedlings planted since. The project uses native high altitude species chiefly balsam and spruce and includes a maintained nursery in the park. The stone tower donated by Col J Harris will open this summer and serve as a lookout for forest fires.
