Gowdy Wins Lucky Hand in Canada Australia Olympiad Match
Bruce Gowdy of Toronto played a remarkable bridge hand as Canada faced Australia in the 1976 Olympiad. West opened five of spades and Gowdy, as South in the other room, and benefited from clever discards, finesses, and ruffs to secure the rest of the tricks. West’s misguess at three spades left South down one in the other room.
