Mother and two children killed in Guilford County crash
A mother Ruth J Phillips Martin age 25 and her two year old Patty Dean Martin and five year old Donald Gray Martin died when their car collided with a beer truck near Blackwelder's barbecue three miles from Greensboro along the Greensboro highway. The beer truck driver William E Sharp of Greensboro was arrested on a manslaughter tech charge and released on $1500 bond pending a county building inquest set for Wednesday afternoon. The crash occurred in the center lane. the vehicle teleportation of the car and truck injuries scattered beer bottles across the scene. (Continued on Page 2 Col 7).

Lech freighter sunk after British interception off Bahia
The 3290 ton German freighter Lech, which left Rio de Janeiro five days earlier to run the British blockade, was intercepted by a British auxiliary cruiser and reported sinking off Bahia, Brazil.
