LEWES Del May 1 A small freighter was sunk by a single submarine about 9 30 a m off the Atlantic coast. The four surviving crew members reached a lifeboat after drifting two hours in the sea. Thirty seven of the 43 crew were rescued by a navy craft. The 33 year old chief officer said the attack was sudden and without warning. Some missing were believed carried away by suction or killed as the torpedo struck. The ship was four hours out from an Atlantic coast port.
