Sharp decline in building activity seen in April
Building activity here during April showed a sharp decline from authorized work, with April 1940 permits estimated at 77,788 dollars versus 171,099 dollars for the same period a year earlier. First ten months of the current fiscal year run ahead of the prior 16 months, driven largely by two low rent housing project permits.
Construction permits issued in past ten months totals rise
Permit activity shows 25 new residences, nine new non residential structures, 35 residence repairs, and 13 non residence repairs authorized last month. Comparisons with April of last year and monthly costs indicate shifts in new residence value, non residential permits, and repair expenditures across both periods.
