April Bargain Month In Canned Fruit Point Values
Betty MacDonald reports on OPA guidance for April rationing of canned fruits and juices. With no carryover of points, officials warn against delaying purchases to chase higher end month values while urging purchases of fresh produce to keep stocks adequate. Restaurants operate on a two month cycle and risk shortages if rationed portions are not reduced. Raisin values may fall further, risking spoilage if not sold before heat rises.
