H. M. Taylor, a former textile pattern designer and insurance executive, founded the Martin Dry Cleaning Company in 1922 and led rapid growth with Dutch Laundry and Sartin branches. He became state president of the cleaners association and held several industry roles in High Point and Winston-Salem. He was born in 1888 in Virginia and moved to North Carolina at 12. He married Ne-Plus Ultra Green and had three children.
