Raleigh March 30. The period of grace for filing income tax returns and paying taxes ends March 31 with no expected extensions. North Carolina and federal collectors say no further leniency likely though extensions can be granted for good reasons. Federal collections exceed 3.3 million and are ahead of last year. state fiscal year receipts near 5.5 million, about 950 thousand below last year.
